Mr Stuart Reid, artist of this City, left for the North this afternoon on his way to the Old Country, where he purposes spending two years completing his studies. Mr H. M. Ewing, an ex-councillor, has been nominated for a seat in the St. Kilda Borough Council. Sydney advises that the clergy of all denominations have sent messages of condolence to the relatives of the late Primate, Dr Saumarez Smith. The Rev. W. Thomson leaves to-morrow for the North Island, where he is taking up his residence. Mr E. H. Wilmot, for some time past Chief Surveyor and Commissioner of Crown Lands at Invercargill, will shortly remove to Dunedin as the successor to Mr D. Barron. .Mr G. Laurcuson. M.P., who lias not been in the best of health lately, will be a passenger on the Government steamer Hinemoa on her trip to the southern -lighthouses.
