The Rev. N. A. Davis has resigned the pastorate of the Kaikorai Baptist Church, having accepted a call to a church in the United States.

Mr J. A. Haggitt’s “ Kiwi ” quartet concluded their musical association last night, singing ‘ Comrades in arms ’ at the conversazione tendered to Mr W. S. Fitzgerald. It is Mr Salter’s approaching departure that splits the combination, and the other members last night presented to him, as a token of esteem, a silver-mounted walking stick. Lord Dalmeny (eldest son of Lord, Rosebery) was married to Miss Dorothy Grosvenor yesterday. There was a brilliant ceremony. A London message advises that, despite the wish of Swinburne, the rector of Bonchurch read passages of the burial service. Some of the mourner’s, it adds, were greatly indignant. Mr Edward F. Roberts is recommended for ■ appointment to the position on the staff of the city engineer lately vacated by Mr R. S. Thompson. Constable White, of Port Chalmers, has been transferred to Dunnolly, and Constable Almond (Central) replaces him at the Fort. Captain Hardy, of Dredge 222, was yesterday presented by the officers’ and crew of the dredge with a case of cutlery. Captain Hardy has resigned in order to take up a Government position at Auckland. The engineer and dredge-master (Mr Alex. Robertson) made the presentation, and expressed regret at Captain Hardy’s departure.
