POLITICAL MEETING®, TO-NIGHT. The following meeting* in connection .with.the coming election will be held at yfiight o’clock to-night, «xecpt when specially mentioned : • Mr J. T. Johnson (Taieri), at Hall. Mr T. Mackenzie (Taieri), at Fairfield. CHALMERS?” ~ Mr E. G. Allen addressed the elector* of Chalmers in the .Mission Ball, 1 Normanby, last night. The steady downpour of ram that prevailed prevented a urge attendance. Mr Wm. Anderson was voted to the chair, and introduced the speaker in flattering terms. At the dose -of the address a vote of thanks and confidence, on the motion of Mr Farrell, seconded by Mr Aitcbeson, was carried unanimously. DUNEDIN WEST. The Hop. J. A. Millar, who arrived in town by tie first express yesterday, met his Committee and supporters, of whom there was a large gathering, in the Council Chambers at Boslyn in the evening, under the presidency of Mr W. Wilkinson. Much enthusiasm was displayed. At the Wakarl Hall on Thursday evening Mr J. W. Munro addressed a meeting, at whiph over 200 were present. Mr A. Matheson (Mayor of Roslyh) presided. Mr Munro concluded his address by calling on all Hie workers to give the Labor party their united support. The candidate received a unanimous vote of confidence! Mr Munro met his supporters last night «t his committee rooms, George street. Satisl factory reports were handed in, and it | was stated that promises of support from ' the workers were widespread. A meeting is to be held on Tuesday to form a Ladies’ Committee. MISCELLANEOUS NOTES. Mr Barclay s North-east Valley Committee meet at the Oddfellows' Hall, not at tb* committee rooms as advertised. Members of Mr Munro'* Boslyn Committee meet at the old Fire Brigade Station on Monday night, and the Ladies’ Committee at 'IBB George street on Tuesday afternoon. Mr J. M’Donald will address the elector* of Dunedin Central in the Alhambra Theatre on Tuesday’evening. Mr T. K. Sidey will address the electors of Dunedin South in the South Dunedin Town Hall on Tuesday evening. He will met his St. Hilda supporters on Monday evening. Mr £. H. Clark speaks at Goodwood on Monday night, .and at Merton on Tuesday. The Hon. J. A. Millar’s supporters meet at Robin’s Buildings, Octagon, at 7.45 on Monday. Mr G. M. Thomson’s General Committee meet at 129 Moray place on Monday. Mr W. L. Clayton (0.) opened his cami paign at Gisborne last mght, and met with an enthusiastic reception. He vigorously attacked the Ministerial policy. Mr C, E. Mackay, Mayor of Wanganui, addressed a great meeting at Wanganui last night, and was accorded a very favorable hearing. He announced himself a supporter of the Ministerial policy. ‘“Our Own” at Christchurch’wires Mr Charles Allison, Mayor of the City, has been waited on by several deputations, who have asked him to become a candidate for Christchurch South, but up to the present he has not been able to see his way to comply with their request. Mr Flatman opened his campaign at Ashburton last night, expressing strong approval of the Ministerial policy. A vole of confidence was enthusiastically adopted by a large meeting. It is probable that Mr Joseph Ivess, who formerly contested the Selwyn seat in the Government interest, will come forward on this occasion.
