SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The first regular meeting of the recentlyelected Cavereham School Committee was held last evening ; present—Messrs Thorn, Thomson, Brown. Kennard, Rutherford, Wright, Austin, Todd, and Barnett. Mr C. J, Thorn was elected chairman, Mr J. S. Barnett clerk, and Mr R. H. Todd treasurer; works committee Messrs Wright, Brown, Rutherford, Thomson, Todd, and Austin. Mrs Partridge was elected caretaker. The visitors for the month are Messrs Wright and Kennard. The Caversham Gymnasium Club were granted the use of the gymnasium. It was resolved to celebrate Empire Day by a lantern lecture, to be delivered on the 22nd inst., and that the scholars down to Standard IV. take part in any general demonstration that may -be arranged for that day. The head master reported that the number on the roll at the end of the month was 604. At a special meeting of the Arthur Street School Committee Mr J. Kcmnitz was reelected chairman iipd Mr A. Sligo was reelected treasurer. Mr 0. H. Pinel was elected secretary. It was agreed to meet on the second Monday in each month. Messrs 0. H. Pinel and'M. M'Kenzie were appointed the Visitinjj Committee for the month.
