Air J. Vigor Brown, Alayor of Napier, has consented to be a candidate for that electorate. He is a Government supporter. Lack of time prevents Mr Massey journeying overland through the Bay of Plenty, and he and Air Herries leave Gisborne for Auckland to-morrow. Air Solomon Ziman, the Rhodes scholar for the Dominion, left Auckland yesterday for Wellington to join the Tongariro for London. Air P. J. O’Regan, chairman of the Wellington Conciliation Board, is laid up with influenza, and will not be able to go to Wanganui hr connection with the painters’ dispute. Mr J. Kemnilz has been re-elected chairman of the Arthur Street School Committee, and Air A. Sligo treasurer. Air 0. H. Pinel has been appointed secretary. An Auckland P.A. telegram states that Airs Alartha Fenton, wife of the late Judge Fenton, died this morning. She arrived in New Zealand in 1840. Air S. Carnell, a former representative, states that ho will be a candidate for Napier at the coming General Election.— Press Association. The Duiledin Fanciers’ Club presented to Air G. Webster (hon. treasurer) last night a dress-suit case and a case of pipes, in recognition of services to the club extending over many years.
