DUNEDIN PAINTERS’ AWARD. The following summarises the award made In the dispute between the Dunedin Painters' Union and emplbyers in Invercargill, Bluff, Riverton, and elsewhere: Hours of Labor.—B a.m. till 5 p.m. five days of the week, 8 till noon on Saturday or fixed half-hotday; one hour to be allowed each day for dinner (day of half-holiday excepted) from the Ist day of August to tho 31st day of May (both inclusive), and from the Ist day of June to the 31st day of July (both inclusive) from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. or five days of the week, half an hour to bi allowed for dinner each day (day of halfholiday excepted). Minimum Wages.—All journeymen to bs paid not less than Is 2d per hour. It is provided, however, that where a journeyman feds himself incapable of earning the minimum he may be paid such less sum as may from time to time be fited between his employer and the secretary of the Invercargill branch.

Overtime.—-All lime beyond the hours mentioned in the “hours of labor” clause to be paid for as follows Time and a-quarter from the ordinary hour of ceasing work up to 8 p.m.; between 8 p.m. and midnight, time and a-half; between midnight and the ordinary hour for commencing work, Aonble time; and on the recognised halt-holiday from the ordinary time for ceasing work till midnight,' time and a-half, ; When a journeyman or apprentice is required to coSttnencv work before 8 a.m. on any working day hj« shall be paid double if Commencing te£sat 6, and time and a-quarter Jf not comment* ing earlier that! 6; these tales to be paid tiff 8.
