THE GAMBLING EVIL

(Received August 24, at 10.26 a.m.) The Assembly held an all-night sitting on the second-reading debate on the Gambling Bill, which, it is believed, will drive the betting evil from the city and localise it on the racecourse. (Received August 24, at 1.10 p.m.) The Anti-gambling Bill was read a second time by 39 to 10. He debate in committee is progressing, and there have been several angry scenes, one member being removed from the Chamber.
