AN IMPORTANT DECISION
THE LAW ON SEAMEN’S WAGES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. ADELAIDE, August 24. (Received August 24, at 10.26 a.m.) An important decision was given in the Civil Court. He British ship Deccan was sold while the voyage for which the crew had signed articles was not completed. The crew, believing the change in ownership entitled them to their release from their contract, sued to recover their wages. The Court held that notwithstanding the change in ownership the crew were bound to complete the voyage. His pronouncement sets aside the law on points which were argued according to the text books, and which have been relied on for nearly half a century.
