HARBOR BOARD.
A special meeting of the Otago Harbor Board was held this afternoon; present—the Eon. EL Gourley (chairman), the Hon. T. Fergus, Mr J. Robin, Mr T. Ross, Mr J. Watson, Mr D. A. Do Maus, Mr J. T. Mackerras, Mr C. W. Rattray, Mr E. F. Duthie, Mr A. C Begg, Mr W. Barclay, and Mr E. G. Allen, M.H.R. Mr J. C, Stephens also attended.
Tho business wasOonsideration of tie new by-laws. For this purpose the Board went into committee, but we have permission to mention one new by-law that concerns the public at large:—"A eteam whistle, siren, or foghorn shall not be sounded on any vessel navigating the waters of the port, or when lying along any wharf, for the purpose of summoning or signalling to workmen or passengers, or to any person whatsoever, but shall only be eounded for such purposes' as relate to navigation." The Board had not come out of commit-' tee at 3.30 p.m.
