PERSONAL.
Mr J. H. Morrison is retiring from the position of manager of the Mosgiel Woollen Company. His period of service dates from 1874, shortly after the formation of the company. Mr E. Cameron, who succeeds to the responsible office, was educated in the old stone school and the Otago High School, and as a lad took employment with Mr A. J. Burns, so that he has been connected with the concern from the first, before the company .started. We arc sure that the promotion of Mr Cameron will be to the many customers cf the company.
Mr W. C{. T. Goodman will leave for Sydney on Thursday, and will probably lie away for three weeks. Messrs W. Knox, M.L.C. (Chairman of the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce), J. M. Joshna (president of the Victorian Chamber of Manufacturers), and H. Butler (Sargood and Co.) have been appointed additional Executive Commissioners for the Exhibition.
Mr W. B. Graham, first assistant at Forbury School for the past fourteen years, will shortly leave for Milton to take up his appointment as rector of the Milton School. Mr and Mrs Graham have made many friends at Musselburgh, and in their honor a social entertainment, taking the form of a progressive euchre party, was held last night in the local Bowling Club pavilion. Over sixty ladies and gentlemen .thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and during the evening presentations were made to Mr and Mrs Graham, Mr Gallaway (on behalf of the Tennis Club) handing Mrs Graham a picture in recognition of her many efforts in their cause, and Mr Marlow (on behalf of the Bowling Club) giving Mr Graham a silvermounted ebony walking-stick. Complimentary references, thoroughly deserved, were made by both speakers, and happily responded to. Tho prizes - awarded for the euchre contest were taken by Miss E. Seyand Mr H. Harris as winners, and MissM.F. Parker and Mr W. Thompson as boobies. Many songs, etc., were given during the evening, which was excellently managed and entirely successful. The Hon. T. Y. "Duncan will bo the Minister in attendance on the Governor at Dunedin next week.
Mr Axelsen, the junior chaplain of the Patients and Prisoners' Aid Society, has decided to accept service tinder the Presbytery of Dunedin as missioner or chaplain In the extension of the social work lately decided upon by tho Presbyterian Church. Mr D. C. Groves, late carbonising foreman at the City Gasworks, was yesterday appointed to the position of manager of the Port Chalmers Gasworks.
Mr Montague M. Heinemama, who for the past ten years has occupied tho position of hon. secretary to the Dunedin Jewhh congregation, upon resigning his office was yesterday presented by Mr D. E. Theomin, president, on behalf- of the Committee, with a gold double sovereign purse and gold pencil case, as a mark of appreciation of services rendered. The gifts were suitably inscribed.
