SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.
FOOTBALL. The Railway Locomotive Club defeated Southern at Tahrnia. Park yesterday by 6 points to nil. Both tries were scored by C. Robertson. Mr White was Teferee. The. Pirates Club have won the premiership of Southlaud with 7 wins, 1 loss, and 2 draws. Invercargill arc second, and Star ;uid Wailriwi tied for third. Southern and Mornington (Association) met on Culling Park yesterday, and after a vigorous encounter, in which both sides let slip more opportunities than they used, left the field with two goals each to their credit. Southern pressed most of the first spell, but through poor combination and worse shooting only notched one goal, which Mornington were not long ,in balancing. The second spell produced much vigorous and little scientific play, from which both sides scored a goal and Sligo missed a penalty for Southern. M'Donald's goal, however, which waa a fine piece of individual play, saved Southern from defeat and enabled them to retain a 4 points' lead for the Wednesday Cup. Mr Litolff gave complete satisfaction with the whistle.
A Sydney cable states that Mr R. W, Paterson's Solution has been landed from ollington in good condition.
