DEATH OF A VETERAN ACTOR.
A Melbourne cable reports the death of Mr G. B. L-3iris, a veteran actor and theatrical nxm-ager, aged eighty-seven. [Mr Lewis and Lis wife toured this colony at the latter end of 1881, 'eaching Danedin in October, and opening their, season at tJie Princess with 'Masks and Faces,' with Mrs Lewis a.s Peg. Mrs George Darrell (nee Miss Uhrissie Peachy) waa a member of the company. Mrs Lewis had a monster matinee benefit tendered Uer by the profession in Melbourne about a year ago, to mark her fifty years' jubilee on the stage. Mr Lewis was quite hale and hearty when Mr Allan Hamilton saw him hi Melbourne only three weeks since.]
