A FIRM BOYCOTTED.
CHRISTCHURCH, July 17. The contracting firm of Messrs Cordery. Smith, and Co. nave had to surrendpr the contract for laying down the new section of the tramwav owing to the' quarrying owners in the first place raising the price of broken metal to 4s a yard, and; secondly, to their declining to supply metal to any firm or body employing Mr Oordery. The Tramway Board are considering the advisability, in face of this boycott, of 'purchasing a quarry of their own and undertaking the work themselves of the construction of tbe new section, with Mr Cordery as supervisor.
