EGG-LAYING COMPETITION
BLENHEIM, September 11. During the nineteenth week of the New Zealand egg-laying competition 2,725 eggs were laid, and tbe grand aggregate brought up to 27,872. The weather has been unfavorable, and for the first time the weekly average declined instead of ascending, the figures being 27.25 as assist 27.69 last week. Mr Leper's white Leghorn? aretstill leading with 533. Mr Brooks's white Leghorns- bein? second with 494. There is another change with respect to third place, Mr Hockev's brown Leghorns, from Nelson, with 415, passing Mr Draper's Buffs, which registered 414. The A. and P. Association's white Leghorns tie for fourth place. __
