MEETINGS OP SOCIETIES

The weekly meeting of the Rescue Lodge. 1.0. G.T., was held in their lodce room, South Dunedin, on Friday evening last, Bro. J. Hilton, P.C.T. (in the absence of the C.T.), presiding. There was a large attendance oi members- and visitors. Ono candidate was initiated. Tbe Ark of love, All Nations, and Lily of the Valley Lodges were officially received, each l*ifee being strongly represented, fully eighty po' - sous being present in all. Bro. Cook iof Christchureh) was also welcomed, and gave a resume of the work of the lodges in the Canterbury district, stating them to be m a very flouiflhing condition. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to the visiting »odf es, and responded to by Bro. Buttcrfield (Ark of Love), Campbell (All Nations), Gillam (Lilv of the Valley), Roxburgh (Hope of Caversham), and Sis. Faithful (Alliance). The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge, ALU., was held in tbe lodeo room, Stuart street, N.G. Bro. J. M'lntosh occupying tbe chair. One candidate was initiated. After the usual business the election of delegates for the half-yearly District meeting was proceeded with, and resulted as follows:—P.P.G.M.. Bro, Hamel; P.G.s, Bros. P. Thomson, J. Thomson, T. Flyrm. and Grater: N.G., Bro. J. M'lntosh; V.G., Bro. W. Rosevear; E.S., Bro. E. W. Fea. A visit was received from the Valley Lodpe, who mustered in 'ar"e numbers, and provided tbe programme forthe evening. P.P.G.M. Bro. Sligo" proposed a vote of thanks to the performers, which was carried by acclamation. Bro. Cooper acted in an efficient maimer as accompanist during the evening.
