AN APPEAL.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In reference to the sad death of C J. Barlow, reported in your issue of Friday night, I crave your indulgence to bring before your readers the unfortunate position of the widow and family. Of the latter there are nine, and one or two who are working are only earning a pittance. The funeral expenses will absorb what little saving was made, as his position as a journeyman painter was not a too reanunerative one. He was known as a hard-work-ing and industrious man, and the case of the widow and fatherless is commended to those of out citizens who are in a position to assist the afflicted. No doubt you will be disposed to receive subscriptions, or they can bo sent to Mr C. E. Keast or myself.—l am, etc., J. G. Bestxet. September 11. [We shall be pleased to take charge of any subscriptions.—Ed. E.S.]
