OTAGO DRAUGHTS CLUB

f,p-t Friday evening there was a lerca atteocmnee at the Otago Draughts Quo, when the second of the special demonstration* arranged by the club took place. The subject was 'End Gaines and Finishing,' Mr J. A. Boreham acting as exponent. Mr Boreham's skill left nothing to be desired, and he interested the experts present as orach n the beginners and students. The txial of intellect among the experts was marked by one noteworthy feature. A standard problem by Mr James Allan, a. we£-known composer, was placed for the experts, and Mr C. Hansen sai himself in oppoaiiion to the lecturer. A fine exhibition of analytical skill took place, and the result was "that the problem, which has stood the rest for so many years in Gould's •Problem Book,' was prowsd to be unsound. The subject for next Friday evening is 'Traps and Shots.' demonstrated by Mr F. Langston, one of New Zealand's foremost players. All comers are cordially welcomed.
