VETERANS' HOME FUND.

Details will be found elsewhere of the full pjogramme of next Wednesday's sports in connection with the carnival benefit of the veterans' fund. Besides the cadets, ever 1,000 of whom will be on the ground, the. principal attractions will be those provided by the members of the Royal Opera Company. A specially attractive feature will be the ladies' cricket match between the 'Hiawatha' and 'The Country Girl' teams. In the ' Hiawatha' team mention may be made of the excellent bowling of Miss Elsie Hamilton, who bowls a really capital bid! with a leg hreak, and Misses Rosie Mitchell and Gouin, who show excellent form with the ball. It batting the team are very strong, those who showed best form st practice yesterday being Misses Brown (2), Gouin, and M'Crae. In Miss M'Crae the team have a captain who handles her players in expert manner. In 'The Country Girl' tuam Miss Gardiner (captain) is a pretty bat and a capital bowler and field. Miss Grass, liowever, in the hitter of the team. Miss Preston and Miss Raleigh are also fine players. Altogether the combination is a strong one, and the exhibition will doubtless be enormously successful.
