In connection with the cattle-maiming case at Great Wyriey, Staffordshire. George Ernest Deji, a solicitor, of Birmingham, I>as been sentenced to seven years' imprisonment with hard labor for maliciously wounding a horse. Tlie jury recommended the prisoner to mercy on account of his social position, but Sir Reginald Hardy refused to accept the rider, and emphasised the gravity oJ the outrage.
