EMPIRE DAY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Your correspondent " Empire Day" must be a man or woman who can afford to lose pay, or else gets paid for all holidays. Take a dozen working men, "honest chaps" who want to keep out of debt, and you will get at least ten of the number who do not want a holiday nn Empire Day. In saying this there is no d'srespect to the memory of our late beloved Queen Victoria"; but there Tiaa been so much loss of time and holidays lately that the mayor will please the working men of Dunedin by not proclaiming a holiday.—l am, eto., Workman.
