A start was made on the 17th inst. with th) construction of the wharf which Messrs Crawford Bros, have undertaken to construct at the head of Evans Bay for the convenience of residents on the Mirimar Peninsula. The contractors hope to complete the work in two months.
Harvest operations in the Temuka district have been delayed by another spell of wet and broken ..weather. So far but little damage has been done, only a comparatively small area of the harvest crop having gone down. There are as yet no signs of rust.
The Recess Committee of tte University Senate met here on Thursday lor the compilation of the matriculation and jun'or scholarship results, which will probably be announced early next week. A delay of a few days has been caused by a rearrangement of the French examinations, consequent on the death of Clarke.
