VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

♦ The annual meeting of the Dnnedin District Volunteer Officers' Club was held at the Garrison Hall on Friday evening. There was a large attendance of members, and the chair was occupied by Lieutenant-colonel Webb. The report presented by the retiring Committee showed that excellent work had been done by the club during last season. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year, the officer commanding the district (Colonel Webb) being president ex officio: Committee—Major Beal, Captain Smith, Surgeon-captain Will, CapUin Robin, and Captain Obalmer; hon. secretary, Captain Barclay; auditor, Captain Smith. After the routine business had been disposed of a lecture was delivered by Colonel Webb, who took as his subject «Infantry Drill, 1896".' The various changes made in the last issue of the ' Infantry Drill Book' were explained at length, and the lecture proved most instructive to those present. At the termination of his paper Colonel Webb was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
