_• It is reported on good authority that Mr David Syme, of the Melbourne 'Age,' was offered a knighthood, but declined the prof* fered honor. At the Glasgow Rifle meeting P. R. Farghar, of the Melbourne Rifle Club, tied with five others in shooting for the Corporation Vase with a score of 90. According to the rules of the National Rifle Association he was allotted fourth place. Beard has been found guilty at Adelaide of the murder of Richards, his mate, at Streaky Bay, and sentenced to death. Lord RanfuHy has been created a Knight of the Order of St. Michael and St George. The estate of the late Sir W. Robinson, ex-Governor of Westralia, was sworn at £66,000. He leaves bequests to the Perth Hospital, the Protestant and Catholio Orphanages, and the cathedral poor box.
