'• A Lover of Burks " suggests that the Burns Club Committee should arrange a concert during record reign week. As so many Scotch people will be in the City such an entertainment would be a great pleasure for them, and there will be enough people in Dunedin to fill all the halls and more. A repetition of the programme given at Green Island iB suggested. '' Loyalty" suggests, with a view to fire prevention on Jubilee Day, that householders take down all curtains, blinds, etc., that readily catch fire. He hopes, further, that Dunedin will make an effective daylight display. "We have numbers of flag poles in and around the City, but we seldom see a good show of bunting from them. Let us hope that we shall during the coining holiday, and that everyone will be loyal, do their duty both day and night, and Dupedin will doubtless make the best Bhow in New Zealand." " A Lover of Good and Cheap Concerts " recommends the public to attend the record reign concert to be held in the Choral Hall to-morrow evening in connection with Lodge Pioneer. These monthly entertainments, our correspondent declares, have good audienceß, are well conducted, and have splendid programmes, and they suit everyone in that the charge for admission is merely by silver coin. "Loyal Workman" ridicules the suggestion that business places should be closed for three days during tosnmemoratiou Week, and says the idea could only have originated with an employe who gets paid for all loss of time. That is not the case with " Loyal Workman," who has a family dependent on him. One day's respite should suffice to. mark the "eventful" day, and it is to be hoped that it will be shared in by all, including railway aud tramway hands.
