[Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, May 7. At the Police Court to-day William John Calvert was fined £5, or a month’s hard labor, for disturbing the audience at the Opera-house on Saturday night, for using objectionable remarks to a young lady' who was performing there, and for assaulting the constable who effected his arrest. Accused asked for time for payment, but the.Beuch replied; “ None whatever.” BLENHEIM, May 7. The alleged sticking up case at Cullensville on Friday night is still occupying the attention of the police, no success having yet attended the efforts to capture the would-be robbers. The affair altogether is a mystery, and it is rumored that the denouement may he very interesting. TIMARU, May 7. The police have ascertained that Best, the absconding grain buyer, left the colony in the Ruapehu on the 19th ult.
