MUNICIPAL.
Mobnikgton.— The ordinary meeting of the Mornington Borough Council, held last evening, was attended by the Mayor (Mr John Grindley), and Crs Secular, Scott, Page, Horsburgh, Wills, Densem, and Cahill.—The Inspector reported, with reference to the Belleknowes streets, that the Only place requiring maintenance metal badly was that piece of Preston cresent from Foster Btreet to Carnarvon street. About twenty-four loads of metal were required. Bright street required about eighty loads of rotten rock. The road across the Belt was far worse than any street in Belleknowes, and was almost impassable. The report was adopted. The Finance Committee reported that the overdraft at the bank stood on July 31 at L 714 7s lid ; accounts paid last meeting, L 99 15s lid ; paid into the bank, LIG4 lis 9i; bank overdraft, August 31, L 649 12s Id. Accounts amounting to LBB Oa 2d were recommended for payment. The report was adoptuJ. —On the motion of Cr Horsburgh, seconded by Cr Wills, it wa.s resolved—"That the sum of Lls be expenled in metalling and improving the upper part of Granviile terrace, Belleknowes."—On the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Cr Wills, it was resolved—" That in future the town clerk keep a dehit account on the works in progress, and report at every meeting the oost to date."—Notice was given by Cr Reynolds that he would move at next meeting—"That a water channel be formed and grouted in Glen road, from Neidpath road to Osborne terrace, at a cost not exoeedtng L 21."
West Harbor. The usual monthly meeting of the West Harbor Borough Council was held last night, and was attended by the Mayor (Mr William Barclay), Crs M'Culloch, Harold, George, Moller, Ross, Griffin, O'Donnell, Mathews, and Reid,— A petition was received from several residents of St. Leonards requesting that the surfaceman be put on Brook street for six or seven days. Referred to Works Committee. —The treasurer reported that the sum of Llll 12s 8d had been paid into the bank since last meeting, and that all accounts bad been paid, less unpreaented Charitable Aid Board, L 5 15a lid ; Hospital Board, L 3 2s 2d; interest, L2l. The bank overdraft was:—General account, LSOB 10a lOd; credit interest account, L 5 14s 6d; net overdraft, L 502 16s 4d; statutory overdraft, L 617; balanoe within statutory overdraft, LI 14 3s Bd. Accounts amounting to LBG Is lid were passed for payment. Adopted.— The Town Clerk intimated that the following councillors' term of office for the various wards had expired:—Cr Reid, for Ravensbourne ; Cr Robs, Rotheßay ; CrSievwrighr, St. Leonards; and Cr Mathews, Sawyers Bay. St. Kilda.—At the ordinary meeting of the St. Kilda Council, held in the Council Chambers last evening, when there were present His Worship the Mayor (Mr Gourley), Crs Skip worth, Mitchell, Allan, Farrell, and Gore, a letter was received from the town clerk of South Danedin, forwarding a resolution passed at the last meeting of the South Danedin Council:—" That the Borough of South Dunedin approve of the formation of a board of works, with power to rate up to £d in the £ over Danedin and suburbs." Received.
