ARRIVAL OF THE FRISCO MAIL.
AUCKLAND, Decbkbeb7. Arrived: Mariposa, from San Francisco, after a' passage of ninteen days ten hoars. Passengers for New Zealand: Messrs W. T. Ifodds, W. J. Green, Captain B. C. Howes, the Rev. Mr Letrier, and Messrs ■ Welding and King. Captain Howes comes to , take charge of the barque Wakefield at Wellington, Captain Crowell, the former master, having died. Additional passengers : Miss* Crozier, Mr J. P. Boreham, Mr A. M. Grundy 1 , Mr and Mrs W. Eoebuck, Mr and Mrs W. fterums, Dr Gum, Mr P. Stopher, Mrs Clarke and four children, and twelve in the steerage. The first item in the summary of news is that Father Damien will be succeeded at the leper settlement at Molokai by his brother. It is reported that Jay CJonld has offered to hand over 11,000,000d0l in gold, with interest since 1869, to the Central Labor Union, on condition of its adopting a plan of co-operative industry proposed by him. —y^ l^ W^^»
