MR GLADSTONE'S AMENDMENT REJECTED. London, April 24. (Received April 25,1888, at 12.30 p.m.) Mr Gladstone's motion affirming the desirableness of equalising the charges on real and personal estates was rejected by 93 votes, the motion being regarded as a party move. The motion for the second reading of the Budget Bill has been agreed to.
