A. Wellington crew were fourth, the Wakatu fifth, and the Union (Wanganni) last. Canterbury held the lead from the start, and won after a very exciting race by a length. Wanganui rowed a good second all through. Wakatu were third most of the way, but by an oversight at the finish they allowed both the Star and the Wellington crews to pass them, though both these crews had been some lengths behind. Time, 13min 48isec.
