NEW PLYMOUTH, March 14,
The Omata Hotel, three miles south of New Plymouth, was burned down at eleven o’clock last night, A gale was blowing at the time. The licensee and his family had barely time to escape. The fire is supposed to have commenced near the kitchen range. The property was owned by Mr Newsham, and leased to Mr Paul, a brewer, of New Plymouth, and was insured in his name in the Phoenix for L2OO. There was no insurance on the stock or furniture.
WELLINGTON, March 14.
Judgment in the appeal case of theTimaru Harbor Hoard and the owners of the ship Lyttelton has been postponed till the 14th of next month.
