The team representing the first regiment of the N.S.W. Rifles won the Rifle Club's match with 408 points out of a possible 500. Over eighty teams entered. A FEDERAL REVIEW. MELBOURNE, February 18. During the Melbourne Exhibition season a review of the colonial and Imperial forces is to he held. All the other colonies, including New Zealand, have been invited to send contingents. It is expected 5,000 men will be encamped. INTERCOLONIAL CRICKET. ADELAIDE, February 18. The match Victoria v. South Australia was commenced here yesterday. The visitors went first to the wickets, and were disposed of for ICS runs, the principal scores being—M’llwraith 88, Trott 80. Giffen took eight wickets. The local team at the close of the day’s play had lost three wickets for 110, G, Gilfun being not out with 49, Walter Giffen 80, Lyons 27. The weather was fine and the wicket good, but the attendance was poor. INTERCOLONIAL SHOOTING CONTESTS. SYDNEY, February 18. (Received February IS, 1888, at 2 p.m.) An Intercolonial Council has been formed to deal with rifle shooting and arrange intercolonial contests. A DERELICT. BRISBANE, February 18, The barque Ijells, which arrived here yesterday from Timarn, passed some hundreds of kerosene tins floating about on February 2. The Bells sighted a vessel’s hull, burned to within a few feet of the water’s edge. The bowsprit was still standing. The captain of the Bells, iu his report to the Collector of Customs, expressed the opinion that the derelict is the remains of the hull of the ship J. T. Berry, which was burnt at sea on 9th January last* while on a voyage from Philadelphia to Japan, and that the floating wreck is exceedingly dangerous to navigation.
