NORTH-EAST VALLEY BAND SPORTS.
The second annual picnic and sports were held yesterday in Schlotel's paddock, N.E. Valley, and attended by about 1,500 people. The band (under the conductorship of Mr VV. H. Corrigan) contributed selections and danco music throughout the afternoon. Most of the events were keenly contested. Mr S. Myers acted as judge, Mr P. Fagan as starter, and Mr H. Lamer as handicapper, giving every satisfaction. The following is a list of the principal events :
Two Hundrbd and Twbnty Yabds (Youths). Seven starters. Ray 1, Wain 2. Four Hundrrd and Fortt Yards Handicap. Ten starters. -B>to (6yds) 1, Wordsworth (12yds) 2, Wareham (6yds) 3. ONBMHiB Walk Handicap. Six starters.-Gawn (scratch) 1, Sharper (80yds) 2, Galloway (20yds) 3. Mils Handicap. Sixteen starters. -*- Thomson (50yds) 1, 11. Aitohison (20yds) 2, J. Adams (40yds) 3. Stebpikciiasb, 1,000 Yardp. Sevon starters.—Jarvis (16yds) l.Kvans (16yds) 2 Half-mils Walk Handicap. Fourteen starters.— O. Drummond (scratch) 1, George Boddy (20yds) 2. Hop, Step, and Jump. Four entries. -Wintrop 1, Foster 2.
