THE FRENCH ANNEX RAIATEA.
The s.s. Richmond, from the Islands, brings advices to Auckland that the French have annexed Raiatea. Six chiefs, with 800 men, refused to submit; and the warship Scorpion bombarded the rebel town, and! landed a party of men to destroy the villages and property. They also issued a proclamation that Natives will be fired upon if they do not submit by a certain date.
