Penuefather, of Wellington, has been appointed law lecturer to the Adelaide University. THE GLENHUNTLY OUTRAGE, MELBOURNE, December 23. Collins, station-master at Glenhuntly, who was murderously assaulted about a fortnight sinco, is now in a fair way to recover. He has fully identified Grocock as his assailant, THE CABLE RATES. MELBOURNE, December 23. Postmastcr-Goneral Mr P. D. Derham, has received a lengthy telegram from Mr J. Pender, chairman of the Eastern Cable Company, on the subject of tho Now Zealand cable rates. Tho reply of Major Atkinson to Mr Pender's communication is anxiously awaited, as it is believed that if the request be not complied with the old difficulty will be reopened. CRICKET. MELBOURNE, December 23. A Crioket Conference assembled here yesterday, at which delegates from New South Wales, South Australia, and Victoria were present. It was unanimously agreed by the Conference that six balls should go for an over. Leg-before-wickets and other questions were also discussed.
