SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

A special meeting of the George street School Committee, held last evening, was attended by Messrs Jago (in the chair), Cohen, Mitchell, M‘Donald, Simpson, Roberts, and the Rev. Mr Beckenham. The applications received for the position of sixth assistant teacher were considered, and it was decided to recommend Mr M'Phce to the Education Board for the vacancy.

The ordinary meeting of the Ravensbourne School Committee was held last evening, when all the members were present. It was resolved to recommend that Miss C. Little be appointed to the position of mistress of the school. With respect to the Macandrew memorial fund, each member of the Committee decided to take a subscription list, and the suggestion that each child in the school should be asked to give sixpence to the fund was referred to the head-master, The Anderson Bay School Committee met on Friday evening last. Present: J. White (chairman), J. H. Pressley, D. Luke, W. Somerville, A. Campbell, and T. Barmby. The resignation of Miss Begg, the mistress, was received ; and it was resolved to record the satisfaction of the Committee with her devotion to the work ami her uniform kindness to the children, The secretary to the Education Board wrote sending the names of candidates eligible for the post of mistress. After careful consideration of the several certificates and testimonials, the Committee adjourned further consideration of the matter until Monday.—At the adjourned meeting, held last evening (all the members being present), it was resolved, after a vote had been taken, to recommend Miss Laura Kingston, late mistress of Burnham Industrial School, for appointment ; the new mistress to be requested to enter upon her duties on the Ist prox. The chairman was requested to take steps to have a pupil-teacher appointed, if possible, and to draft a report for the annual meeting of householders.
