THE VOLUNTEERS.

The Naval Brigade paraded last night for inspection. There were present—l captain, 3 lieutenants, 1 chief and three petty officers, 68 gunners, and 26 of the band. After Earade, Lieutenant Jacobs, who has now een in the company for a period of nineteen years, was presented with a handsome gold medal, upon which was the following inscription Presented to Lieutenant Godfrey Jacobs by the officers and members of the Dunedin Naval Brigade for services rendered.—April 21, 1882.” The medal was manufactured by Mr J. T. Telfer, and beautifully engraved by Mr L. Kemnitz. A presentation of a signet ring was made to Lieutenant Notman, and of a watch pendant to Petty-officer Pinlayson. Captain Smith made the presentations, and referred in complimentary terras to the services rendered by bis officers.
