HASTINGS PARCHED

RECORD LOW RAINFALL

P.A. HASTINGS, November 30. The present month is the second driest in the history of Hastings, and the driest November on record. Only four points of rain have been recorded this month, being one point more than the lowest recorded, which was in December, 1912— and the official borough records go back as far as 1892.

. Associated with the dry spell is a substantial increase in the consumption of water, and all previous records have been eclipsed. For the first 28 day-s this month 70,170,000 gallons of water were pumped into the borough mains, the previous highest being 62,059,000 gallons. The maximum daily output this month was last Sunday, when 2.8G9.000 gallons were pumped, and the average daily consumption this month has been about 2,000,000 sallons.
