HALLOWE'EN DANCE
INGENIOUS DECORATIONS
Hallowe'en was celebrated amidst a collection of appropriate decorations at a dance given by the National Union in the National Club on Saturday evening. Pumpkin. faces, each lighted from within by a faintlyburning candle, were placed prominently about the rooms and all lights were effectively shrouded. Eerie symbols of Hallowe'en, witches and their broom sticks, owls, bats, and moons were silhouetted against the walls, and large, sinister spiders' webs with fat felt spiders clinging to the centres were greatly admired. > More than 150 guests were present, and all joined in the traditional applebobbing and fortune telling. At supper, hot mashed potatoes, with lucky charms hidden in their midst, were popular fare. Fruit cup was served during the evening. Committee members responsible for the arrangements for the dance were Misses Muriel Hunt, Arta and Cleo Hogarth-Gill, Esther Duigan, Meg Ogilvie, Anne Tisdall, Essie HogarthGill, and Jean Lennie, and Messrs. Roger Roberts, Colin Monro, Clive Hobbs, Alan Watson, and Edward Harcourt. Mr. Douglas Oliphant was thanked by the committee' and congratulated upon his work in connection with the decorations. Mrs. K. Parkinson, vice-president, and Mrs. M. Y. Bates, were among the guests.
