(Special to ''The Post.") WANGANUI. This Day. The weather wa^s fine for the final gallops yesterday, and the track was in good order. The best gallops were registered by Stony Broke, Michael, Colonel Vaals, Miss Caen, and Brown Derby. Lord Coronach had the two-year-old Kirstvmac as a companion over three furlongs, run in 39 l-ssec. The former was doing it easily. Lily Ann went a circuit, sprinting the last two furlongs in 26£ sec. Kilarney Boy slipped over half a mile in 30 2-ssec, finishing on well. Captain Courageous went seven furlongs with a companion in 1.36. The two-year-old All Bay sprinted three furlongs in 33Asec. This filly worked well. River Light clocked 51 4-ssec for half a mile. The Guineas candidates Good Effort (Johnson) and Michael (K. Chote) had Colonel Vaals (Fraser) as a companion in a spin over half a mile. Michael gathered up speed quickly and led into the straight, where Colonel Vaals closed up and just headed him on the post, with Good Effort two lengths back. The first quarter was run in 24 2-ssec, and the half-mile in 51 1-5 sec. Colonel Vaals finished on well, and Michael also pleased. Breezealong and Stony Broke were companions over six furlongs, the latter finishing a length in front in 1.16 4-5, the first half-mile taking over 50 sec. Broielov and Battle Lord were not extended in running six furlongs in 1.21. All eyes were on Brown Derby when he went out to run six furlongs, which he left behind on the bit in 1.17. He looks bright and well, and will be one of the chief fancies in whatever event he starts on Saturday. St. Lucien jumped off clear of Miss Caen at the half-mile peg, but the latter was home first in 51sec, doing it nicely. Derryogue gave Gay Tide three lengths' start and beat her narrowly over Iwo furlongs in 25sec. Bridge Acre and AJ-Sirat: were associated over five furlongs, registering 1.6 4-5.
