GREENGROCERS CLOSING

When it appeared that the Chinese greengrocers would close for three days to celebrate the victory over the Japanese, many people rang the Mayor of Wellington, Mr. W. Appleton, who got in touch with the Chinese ConsulGeneral. As a result of his representations, the greengrocers have agreed to open tomorrow (Wednesday) and carry heavy stocks so that people may purchase requirements to see them over until next Monday, for the shops will be closed on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Ed Mr. Holland. "Far from being a wolf lying down, the National Party today typifies the spirit of the British lion standing up four square in the path of growing dictatorship in New Zealand. "It is true there are differences between the two parties. One, the Labour Party, appears to believe conscientiously in State control here and there and everywhere, so as to hasten the day of socialisation of the means of production, distribution, and exchange; hence all these restrictions, regulations, and all this loss of personal freedom for the people. The other party, the National Party, is equally conscientious in its belief that the people are heartily tired of rising costs, regimentation, restrictions, shortages, licences, permits and filling-in of forms, and that a steadily-growing number of people are looking for a change; a party that will allow the people to have the freedom that our service men and women have fought for, a party that will reduce living costs by lowering taxation and restoi-e to the people Lieir right to live their own lives without dictation from the State.

Mr. Fraser is apparently still suffering from the effects of Awarua, Hamilton, and Dunedin North."
