VICTORY TEA PARTY

American officials in Wellington, their wives, and a number of representative citizens were guests at a Victory tea party given yesterday morning by Mrs. F. Basham. Bowls ot primroses, daffodils, and other spring flowers decorated the sunny lounge of the Pioneer Club where the gathering took pfece. Guests were entertained with, a bracket of delightful songs by Mr. Bryan O'Brien and. appropriately, in the spirit of British-American co-operation, with two interesting recordings, one the sound part" of a television broadcast, made by Mrs. Basham during her recent visit to New York. Mrs. Charles McDonald played the accompaniments for Mr. O'Brien's songs. Among those present were Mrs. K. S. Patton, wife of the American Minister, Mrs. Prescott Childs, Colonel H. A. Meyer, Mrs. Elvin Seibert, Mr. and Mrs. Laughlin, Mrs. W. A. Riddell, wife of the High Commissioner for Canada, Mr. Wang Feng, ConsulGeneral for China, and Mrs. Wang Feng, Dr. W. Schmidt, Consul for Switzerland, the Mayoress, Mrs. Appleton, Mrs. Harold Kemp, Lady Pomare, Mrs. Rex Inder, Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair Carfuthers, Mrs. Corbett, Mrs. V. Jowett, Commandant-in-Chief W.A.A.C, Wing-Officer E. M. Carlyon, W.A.A.F., Miss I. Willis, Matron-in-Chief. N.Z.A.N.S., Miss Iris Crooke, Chief Commandant of V.A.D.s, Mrs. Knox Gilmer, Miss Amy Kane, Miss Janet Moore, Mrs. A. Leigh Hunt, Miss D. Whitelaw, Mrs. Heketa, Miss Mary Parsons, Mrs. N.
