HERE AND THERE
Belmont Women's Institute. At the August meeting of the Belmont Women's Institute the speaker,Miss Mary Graham, gave an interesting talk on India. Competitions, judged by Miss Graham, were won by Mesdames Isherwood and Martin, and Miss Presant's polyanthus blooms won for her the cup to be held for a month. Catholic Women's League. A largely-attended social evening for members of the Catholic Women's League was held recently in the league's rooms. Songs were sung by Mrs. Joblin and Miss G. Phillips, elocutionary items given by Mrs. Peoples and Miss S. -JWalker, and pianoforte solos by Mrs. T. Fouhy, who also played the accompaniments. The programme concluded with a oneact play produced by Mrs. P. Gilligan, the players being Mesdames Doogan, Healy, Irvine, O'Brien, and Peoples., In the absence of the president (Mrs. Pound), Mrs. C. O. Bell thanked all those who had contributed to the programme. Supper, served by members of the committee, followed.
