FINE SPELL ENDED
P.A. INVERCARGILL, Sept. 2. After a month of mild and dry weather, a return to .wintry conditions was experienced in Southland at the weekend. Snow fell in various parts of the province, between two and three inches being recorded at some inland centres. By this afternoon, practically all the snow had disappeared. Only a few flakes fell in Invercargill.
