FOOTWEAR STAMP
GUARANTEE OF QUALITY Following an investigation by the New Zealand Standards Institute of the quality of footwear, the Government proposes to introduce a system of stamping boots and shoes which come up to the institute's specifications. It is reported that advice to this effect was received at a meeting of the Wanganui Trades and Labour Council from the Minister of Supply (Mr. Sullivan), to whom the council had written protesting against the quality of some footwear on the .retail market. ! The report adds that in his reply the , Minister said that when the scheme i was introduced- footwear not bearing ■ the Standards Institute stamp would . carry no guarantee of quality.
