NEW ZEALAND SCIENTISTS
Recommendations for the commemoration of New Zealand's leading scientists have been adopted by the standing committee of the Royal Society of New Zealand on the initiative of the Wellington branch. They include plaques commemorating the work of these men to be erected in places connected with their work, the naming of educational and research buildings after them, and a suggestion that museums should show suitable exhibits commemorating their work. In response to a suggestion that I the standing committee should draw up a list of the names of the past most eminent scientists of the Dominion, the following names were selected: —Rutherford, Mellor, Hector, Skey, Hutton, McKay, Haast, Cockayne, Best, and J. M. McLaren. . _
