WORLD TRADE UNIONS
CONFERENCE IN LONDON
Rec. 9 a.m. MELBOURNE, April 5. Messrs. C. Crofts and E. Thornton have been selected to represent the Australian trade union movement at a world trade union conference which will commence in London on June 5. Mr. Crofts is general secretary of the Gas Workers' Union and former honorary secretary of the Australian Council of Trades Unions, while Mr. Thornton is general secretary of the Iron Workers' Union. ■ The London conference has been called to discuss furtherance of the Allied war effort and the attitude of the trade unions to the anticipated peace settlement. The Australian delegates hope to visit New Zealand when en route to the conference.
