EMBASSY STATEMENT
NEW YORK, April 4. The authorised spokesman for the Soviet Embassy said that he personally did not know Victor Kravchenko, who is reported to have resigned as an official of the Soviet Purchasing Commission in Washington, says the "New York Times" Washington correspondent. He added that the Embassy had nothing to say at present, but he proceeded to point out that he knew most of the men of the purchasing commission, and he surmised that Kravchenko mighttbe a clerk. The spokesman insisted that Kravchenko was not the chief of the metal section, as was reported. ■ , . State Department records show that Kravchenko was admitted to the United States as a Soviet official. ,In a Press interview Kravchenko was critical of the Soviet regime and declared that already the Soviet rulers were preparing a new generation for the next war.
