THE FOREIGN MINISTRY
IMPENDING CHANGE
LONDON, April 4. "Mr. Eden will resign his post as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs," says the "Daily Telegraph's" political correspondent. "This has definitely been decided, but Mr. Eden will remain Leader of the House of Commons and a member of the War Cabinet. Lord Cranborne will succeed Mr. Eden as Foreign Minister. An official announcement of the change is likely to be made before Parliament • rises for the Easter recess." Political commentators have given the three following reasons as to why Mr. Eden-may resign the Foreign Affairs portfolio: First, he might be needed in some other capacity to take part of the burden from Mr. Churchill, whose health is not good. Secondly, that because Mr. Eden himself has been overworked he might have to choose between the Foreign Office and the leadership of the Commons. Thirdly, Mr. Eden might be sacrificed because of his sympathy with Russia's diplomatic aims.
