CANADIAN HOME ARMY
OTTAWA, September 13. The Minister of Defence, Colonel Ralston, has announced the reorganisation of the Canadian home army. The Seventh and Eighth Divisions will be disbanded and the Sixth partially disbanded. The plan particularly affects the portion of the army in Canada which is allotted to operational tasks. The reorganisation will reduce Canada's home defence by 20,000 men.
Colonel Ralston explained that the step is one of a number taken, or contemplated, in the light of the improved strategic situation and the pressing man-power shortage and because the navy has passed the expansion stage.
