NEW QUARTERS
LOWER HUTT CITY COUNCIL
The Lower Hutt City Council met last evening in the board room of the Hutt River Board, on account of the removal of the furniture of the old council chamber to its new premises. Owing to the expiry of its lease of the premises it now occupies in the King George Theatre building, the council some time ago decided to add to and renovate the old post office building, which came into the possession of the council on being vacaLed when the new post office was built. This new work is now almost completed and it is anticipated that the change-over will take'place next weekend.
The new public office will be entered from High Street, with the Town Clerk's room adjacent; the City Engineer's office will be the room formerly occupied by the postmaster,entered from a right of way on the south side, and the city inspector's office will be part of an annexe at the rear, which also contains the new council chamber, and wiir be entered from Laing's Road. The Assistant City Engineer and the Superintendent of Reserves will have offices on the first floor.
